Trailer First Pass — Team Feedback & Next Steps

Team,

First — thank you.

We wrapped our first extended shoot and released the working cut as a proof of concept. What followed has been exactly what a real writers’ room should look like: thoughtful critique, emotional awareness, structural thinking, and bold creative instincts.

If you haven’t rewatched it yet, here’s the link:

This is still a working cut. Not final. Not polished. A vision in motion.

🔎 Highlights from the Room

Kathleen Kalb

Raised an important framing question:

Should our first sight of Dorothy be her on the ground — or as the determined woman fighting her way back to her children?

That’s a powerful reframing. It shifts perspective from victim to survivor immediately.

She also suggested:
• Letting Wilbur’s “hold me” moment breathe longer
• Slowing the pacing so the audience absorbs the psychological weight

This is structural control — not shock, but tension.

Vintage Tivis

Brought an entirely different creative lens:

• Suggested keeping the distortion lines as a storytelling device — trauma memory distortion
• Loved the loop structure of the trailer
• Proposed tension details like:

  • A twitch (lighter, steering wheel tapping)

  • A visible door lock click

  • Extending certain beats for emotional buildup
    • Suggested giving Dorothy a strong opening line when she approaches the car

She also caught subtle visual details in-frame that may be accidental — or may become intentional symbolism.

That’s the kind of instinct we need.

Dr. Mark DeNoble

Offered structural psychological insight:

Instead of opening with high-intensity violence, build physiological escalation first.

Safety → intrusion → threat.

That shift would create a ramp rather than a spike, placing the audience inside Dorothy’s hypervigilance instead of simply shocking them.

This is trauma-informed storytelling.

He also offered support with structural mockups — which is huge.

🎥 Technical Note

Yes, the distortion lines were accidental.

Some of you love them.
Some of you want them clean.

We will likely reshoot under controlled lighting.

But the discussion itself shows how strong this team is — you’re thinking narratively, not technically.

🚀 Where We Go From Here

This is where we tighten.

• Reorder structure?
• Strengthen Dorothy’s entrance?
• Add visual symbolism?
• Layer psychological tells?
• Adjust pacing?
• Refine music placement?

This is clay on the wheel.

Now we sculpt.

📌 ACTION STEP

Please log into the Writers Portal on the TKP Studios website and:

  1. Rewatch the trailer

  2. Post your structured feedback there

  3. React to each other’s ideas

  4. Suggest rewrites, structural changes, dialogue, tone shifts

Let’s centralize the discussion so we can build collectively.

This is no longer just a concept.

This is a living series in development.

We refine.
We reshoot.
We elevate.

Teamwork makes the dream work — I think they say. 😉
